Hello, I’m Audrey Utti Tailor! Welcome to this piece of me, Audyssy Designs.
We are a slow fashion brand that was founded in 2018 and we operate from our home studio in Houston, Texas. Along the way, my awesome husband, Anshul, joined me on this crazy ride. I decided to explore this itch back in 2017 after leaving an eye-opening adventure in a doctoral program. Since then, it has been amazing learning about the fashion industry and what sustainability means. Earth, it’s beautiful inhabitants, our oceans, our skies- these are the very things that inspire my designs. As we’ve continued to learn, we’ve come to understand that it is entirely possible to conscientiously be a part of fashion.

There are interesting layers to take into account when working towards sustainable practices. This is why we share that we are, and probably will always be, in a state of ‘progress in sustainability’. Each small step we have implemented and shared below can be continuously refined and improved to achieve better sustainable practices. We intend on adding and improving sustainable practices with each series we create.

We aren’t sure where it’'ll all lead lol! But in the meantime, we’ll keep using this space as a way to express this side of me. We are so grateful for our loved ones, dear friends, and new connections that joined us along the way. We hope you'll come along with us!

-Audrey & Anshul

Currently, we are doing the following:

  • -This helps eliminate the need for inventory and to help you get the right fit.
-We make each piece by hand after an order is received.

  • - Our focus is on GOTS certified Organic Cotton, Tencel Modal, Tencel Lyocell, Linen, and Deadstock

    - We have been gifted fabrics/made mistakes with fabric purchases (when we first started) that are not as environmentally friendly. These fabrics have become a sort of deadstock for us (as we’ve avoided using them for a few years). These will eventually be used up to make garments that can last with the understanding that natural/organic fibers are our focus moving forward.

-All threads used (throughout garment) are either Tencel Threads, 100% Cotton Threads, or 100% Recycled Threads

-All hair scrunchies use GOTS certified Organic Cotton and Natural Rubber Elastic

-All hair bows are hand sewn- no glues are used

  • -This includes tape, tags, care labels, boxes, stickers, tissues, inks when it comes time to ship items

  • - All hair accessories are made using ONLY post-production materials. This means, all the scraps or leftover materials from our sample pieces, production, research and development, etc. are collected and upcycled into our hair scrunchies and hair bows.

-Keeping an eye on design and pattern drafting to minimize the original waste created.

  • One of the exciting things we’ve learned about is the need for Circularity in the fashion industry. We feel it is important to keep the pieces we create in a Mend, Reuse, Recycle/Upcycle loop! Building Circularity into our model provides an alternative to throwing your pieces away (or other routes that may lead to a landfill).

  • -We are proud to be part of the alliances shown at the bottom of our page and look forward to being a part of more. Check out our cool badges at the bottom of the page!
